Freedom Channel  http://www.freedomchannel.com Freedom Channel is a non-partisan site that introduces video-on-demand into American politics. It covers both candidate and issue groups. They have an excellent selection for the presidential candidates, cover the major issues of the campaign. Of particular interest are the candidate ads. You can view the top spots for Bradley, Gore, Bauer, Bush, Forbes, Hatch and McCain. They are also currently featuring the issue of abortion. The Senate, House and Gubernatorial selections will be expanded as the election season moves ahead. This is a great site and very easy to maneuver.

Political Information  http://www.politicalinformation.com A search engine for politics, policy and political news. Search over 5000 policy and political websites. According to Colin Delany, Editor, the Political Information Site fills the gap of the regular search engines. General search engines do not pay sufficient attention to the political arena. Since the organizers have a political background, the site was built with the political operative or political junkie in mind. Their political news is reindexed every two hours.

New West Politics  http://www.newwestpolitics.com Provides a one-stop resource for information and research on current campaigns, public policy or legislative issues in the 11 western states of AK, AZ, CO, ID, MT, NV, NM, OR, UT, WA and WY. Local newspaper headlines are updated twice a day. The site also includes area research and public opinion surveys, state – by - state information and links to political and state web sites. Regional issues are highlighted with commentary on how those issues affect each state.

Vanishing Voter Project http://www.vanishingvoter.org A study of public involvement in the 2000 presidential campaigns, sponsored by the Shorenstein Center at Harvard University. The project features weekly polls conducted nationwide to track voter engagement in the electoral process. Research-based proposals to improve the electoral structure will be available. In 1996, voter turnout was below the 50% level. Some of their recent polls confirm generally held beliefs, i.e. that young adults largely ignore the presidential campaign, many Americans want third-party choices, and voters remain uninformed about candidates and their positions.

Mullings  http://www.mullings.com Mullings is an excellent political cyber-column written by Rich Galen, Republican political operative and former Executive Director of GOPAC. A combination of Republican gossip and commentary, Mullings is well written with humor and a "sharp bite." The current issue analyzes Hillary Rodham Clinton’s appearance on the Letterman show. You can sign up for an email version of the thrice-weekly column.

Ivillage.com  http://www.ivillage.com/election Ivillage is a woman’s network on-line, covering the gamut of women’s issues. Their election page contains a "Voter Tool Kit" including information on getting involved, money in politics and finding your elected official. Feature items, such as the debate of the week and "Women with Opinions" include well thought out commentary. Both sides of the aisle are covered. Of particular interest is the Town Hall Tuesdays section. On 1/18/00, Hillary Clinton was the guest speaker. The site allowed you to send in your questions. Check their Site for future guests.

Constituent mail via the Internet http://www.house.gov/riley Congressman Bob Riley, AL, used a personalized video message to update an opt-in group of his constituents. Congress authorized the use of interactive e-mail attachments of constituent communications last year, as an alternative to regular mail. The eGram, sent 12/23/99, featured a personalized video message in which the Congressman invited viewers to click onto his Web site. It is the first time an elected government official utilized this technology, according to eCommercial.com, producers of the Rich Media E-Mail. We should begin to see more such communication.

Presidential Primary Debate Webcast http://www.wiredvote.com The second Presidential Primary debates on Jan 5th and 6th were broadcast on the Internet. The on-line audience viewed the debates and actively participated in on-line voting while the debate was taking place. According to one of the developers, Aprisma.com, Bradley was declared the Democratic favorite by 74% of the cybervoting audience. Primarydiner.com, a Webcast sponsor, reported that Alan Keyes won the Republican debate with 31% of the vote. (George W. Bush received 25%).

First Binding Internet Election http://www.azdem.org The Arizona Democratic Party will conduct this year’s presidential primary election on-line. Voters can choose to vote at the authorized polling station or on the web. The hope is that this option will increase voter turnout. This is the first legally binding public election ever to be held over the Internet. According to Votation.com, the Internet organization developing the on-line system, it is secure and accountable.
