Job Description: The Society of Thoracic Surgeons seeks an experienced professional to serve as the Assistant Director, Government Relations to advocate for the world’s leading cardiothoracic surgery specialty society, its members and their patients. The position provides opportunity for high profile advocacy of innovative solutions, including quality improvement and cost reduction, to address our nation’s health care crisis. Responsibilities include legislative and regulatory strategy, analysis and advocacy; policy development with Society leadership; coalition building; and grassroots and political action coordination. Applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree and previous Capitol Hill experience; association experience or law degree, preferred. At least 5-7 years overall experience preferred, of which 2-3 shall have been in health policy.
